Mrs Alina Giles
My name is Alina Giles. I’ve recently become a co-opted governor of Meltham Moor. In my big family there are several children going through various stages of school and higher education, so learning and aspirations are regular topics at our family dinners. My daughter Sophie attends our school’s Reception class and she’s been very happy there.
I hold a PhD degree in maths and physics and I work in science. I enjoy many forms of arts and try to attend art activities. I have been a member of committee of Huddersfield Down Syndrome Support group where I especially enjoyed organising tailored speech and language therapy groups for the members.
In Meltham Moor, apart from general governors’ activities, I hope to support our school in strategies in development of the pupils’ potential to the fullest. The children’s creativity, reasoning and academic achievements are of my particular interest.
