Message from the Headteacher

Helen Whitely.

I grew up in Holmfirth and after attending Holmfirth High and Greenhead College I joined the Royal Navy in 1991. During my short 28 year , career I have worked in numerous locations within the UK and spent 2 1/2 years in Naples, Italy. Whilst serving I spent time on all of our old aircraft carriers and have completed a 6 month tour of duty in Iraq. In 1995 after the birth of my eldest son, I took a sabbatical and studied for my BA(Hons) at Huddersfield University, this was followed by my PGCE in Secondary ICT before I returned to the service full time. I retired in the spring of 2018 and moved back to the area so the children weren't changing schools all the time. I have 4 children in total; the eldest lives in Brighton, I have a son at Honley High and my youngest 2 are at Meltham Moor. I volunteer in school as a KS1 reading friend and am the Treasurer of the PTA. I also volunteer at the library and spend my afternoons being chauffeur for the children. I have been a Governor since May 2019 with responsibility for PHSE.
